Mikko Hyppönen

Hyppönen has been researching cybercrime for over 30 years. He currently serves as the Chief Research Officer for drone defense at Sensofusion Ltd, a company that develops counter-unmanned aerial vehicle solutions. Previously, he had a long career as the Chief Research Officer at WithSecure and as the Principal Research Advisor at F-Secure. In addition, Hyppönen serves as an advisor to EUROPOL and as the curator for the Internet Archive Malware Museum.

Over the past 30 years, Hyppönen has delivered hundreds of speeches in over 40 countries. His appearances include:

• Keynote speeches at major cybersecurity conferences, such as DEF CON and Black Hat Asia.
• Lectures at top universities, including Oxford, Stanford, and Cambridge.
• The most-watched cybersecurity talk on the internet: His 2011 TED Talk has been viewed 2 million times and translated into over 40 languages.

Hyppönen’s articles have been published in The New York Times, Wired, and Scientific American. In 2010, he was awarded the Virus Bulletin Award as the best educator in the field, and he is also the recipient of the MySpeaker of the Year 2023 award in the Security and Trust category.

In his latest book, Internet (published globally under the title If It’s Smart, It’s Vulnerable), Hyppönen explores the future possibilities of the internet as well as the biggest risks to our online lives. The book received an extensive and positive review from the Financial Times, among others.
