Maija Ilmoniemi

Maija Ilmoniemi is a professional in communication and media, working as a presenter, journalist, author, and coach – and dreams of a lovely wooden house in the countryside. Maija loves her work and the wonderful human encounters it brings. Outside of work, Maija finds joy in playing tennis and regularly going on hiking trips to Lapland and Norway.

Maija is a bold and energetic doer, cheerful and smiling, as well as an empathetic and kind-hearted person. She believes in the power of smiles and laughter; within her resides a little world-changer who wants to build better interactions and connections between people. She is concerned about people’s loneliness and wants to make an impact through her work so that we can meet each other better and more courageously. Maija wants to encourage people to explore and get to know themselves, thereby building bridges and communication towards others.

Maija has been involved in communication and public speaking coaching throughout her life, to a greater or lesser extent. She studied communication at the University of Helsinki, focusing heavily on interaction in her studies. In her career as a consultant, she has provided training in both public speaking and media, and as a journalist and presenter, she has gained insight into the principles of performing and media appearances through her own work and experiences. A valuable addition and side path to coaching came from her two-year studies in acting at the Theatre Academy, which she had the opportunity to pursue as further education while already in the workforce. Maija has drawn a lot from these studies to enhance her coaching in public speaking.

How did Maija become a Rhetorich coach? “One small encounter and a question led to me becoming a Rhetorich coach. I interviewed André Noël Chaker for one of my programs, and at that time, we connected not just as interviewer and interviewee but also as individuals. Then, a few years later, when MySpeaker’s fantastic and groundbreaking Rhetorich was ready to go out into the world, André asked me to be a coach. This story is an excellent example of the kind of impact one small encounter can have and how significant it can ultimately become. I am incredibly grateful and happy to be part of the MySpeaker Rhetorich coaching team and to be involved in building something entirely new and unique. We’re doing all of this together!”
