Virtual reality (VR) is now mainstream, and its potential ­– as well as that of augmented reality (AR) technology, which allows us to integrate simulations with the “real” world – is vast. Jeremy Bailenson is a pioneering expert in the field and one of the world’s leading experts on VR and AR.

Professor at Stanford University, head of Stanford’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab, and VR expert. Jeremy is a Co-founder and the Chief Visionary at STRIVR. He is the founding director of Stanford University’s world-renowned Virtual Human Interaction Lab and a Professor in the Department of Communication at Stanford. He is one of the world’s leading experts in virtual reality. His findings have been published in over 100 academic papers in several fields including communication, computer science, education, law, medicine, and psychology. Jeremy is an author of the book Infinite Reality which was recently quoted by the Supreme Court outlining the effects of immersive media.

Professor Jeremy Bailenson is particularly interested in how virtual experiences lead to changes in perceptions of self and others. His lab builds and studies systems that allow people to meet in virtual space, and explores the changes in the nature of social interaction.

A gifted and in-high-demand speaker, Professor Bailenson designs presentations that incorporate live VR demonstrations, allowing the audience to directly experience the impact of the revolutionary technology rather than merely understand it in theory. His presentations cover the core principles of VR and its impact on human psychology, productivity and work; how VR technology can be used to influence consumer decisions, from saving for retirement to encouraging healthy eating and how VR can bring about the revolution in education that we so desperately need, breaking through the constraints of traditional education and customizing curricula.
